Dr. Apiwan Nuangpolmak delivered a talk on “Multilevel tasks for multilevel students” based on her PhD dissertation. She started by addressing problems of having multilevel students who lack motivation and language, as well as learning skills in a classroom. She suggested using 3 writing tasks which are divided into three levels of task difficulty: A (supported writing), B (Guided writing), and C (Free writing). These tasks provide choices which help promote learning autonomy. She found that the way students chose tasks were not only related to their proficiency but also their confidence and learning style. Her model can be used in developing learning materials that are suitable for a classroom consisting of multilevel students. |
