In this workshop, I will introduce how to map an English test to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) using standard setting, which is the process of establishing cut scores on a test. Assuming no prior knowledge of standard setting, participants will become familiar with the standard setting procedure, study the CEFR descriptors (Global Scale), and learn how to judge a borderline student at a certain CEFR level to determine if they can pass a test item. During this workshop, participants will utilize the Yes/No Ankoff technique. The participants will walk away with the hands-on experience in mapping an English test to the CEFR.
