The Pre-Conference Workshops were held today (Wednesday, 15 July 2026) at the Chulalongkorn University Language Institute (CULI) to raise awareness of and promote the wider application of Conversation Analysis (CA) in research and education ahead of the official opening of of CARDIT 2026, themed "Innovative Perspectives on Communication: Conversation Analysis-Informed Language Education for Teaching and Assessing Interaction." The workshops comprised the following sessions:

1) Research Workshop
The workshop explored the application of Conversation Analysis in research. It featured presentations by Emeritus Associate Professor Numa Piers Markee and colleagues from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, USA; Professor Olcay Sert from Mälardalen University, Sweden; and Assistant Professor Dr. Patharaorn Patharakorn, Deputy Director for Research, Chulalongkorn University Language Institute.

2) Pedagogy Workshop
The workshop focused on the application of Conversation Analysis in teaching and learning practices, demonstrating its relevance across a wide range of educational disciplines beyond English language education. The session featured presentations by Associate Professor Thorsten Huth from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, USA; Associate Professor Silvia Kunitz from Linköping University, Sweden; and Assistant Professor Dr. Patharaorn Patharakorn, Deputy Director for Research, Chulalongkorn University Language Institute.
